One rack, not two stores.
4 Men & Women started with an argument in a fitting room. Our founders, Dara and Iman, had walked into three different stores looking for the same thing: a jacket that worked for a client meeting and a Tuesday. The men's floor had the fabric they wanted but not the fit. The women's floor had the fit but a fraction of the fabric weight, at nearly the same price.
We started in 2019 as a single rack of ten pieces — five cut for a straighter frame, five for a curved one — made from the exact same bolt of cloth, priced the exact same amount. No pink tax, no "boyfriend fit" as a workaround, no separate quality tiers depending on which side of the store you shopped.
"The '4' is 'for.' This is a shop for men and women — not a men's shop that carries women's sizes as an afterthought, or the reverse."
Six years later we're still a small team, working with mills in Portugal, Turkey, and Northern Italy who now run matched fabric lots for two different pattern blocks — the reason our cloth never feels quietly downgraded depending on which rack it's hanging on.
